Using Location Based Mobile Social Network as Emergency Response Communication System
We would propose using the Mytalk "location based" mobile social network as an Emergency Response Service which would allow FEMA or local emergency entities to search, identify and locate NEARBY individuals on the most widely available mobile devices. Using next generation location-based and mobile web network services MyTalk allows individuals on their mobile device to identify, view the profiles of, and communicate with other MyTalk members (be they individuals or businesses) with similar needs/interests based upon their physical proximity. (see www.mytalk.mobi) In the FEMA or disaster situation, anyone using Mytalk can create groups, rank individuals closest to furthest within those groups, broadcast communicate and if necessary identify the location on a map of any other Mytalk member. Mytalk's strength here is that it provides for the creation of dedicated "groups" who's location and proximity can be tracked and if necessary connected with text or voice messaging. Imagine being able to request to see all of the closest trauma doctors nearby in the event of an emergency. The Mytalk system will generate a list of those doctors ranked closest to furthest and provide the ability to communicate with them immediately. In this current example all that is required is that the Doctor has the Mytalk application downloaded on their mobile device and logged in. Mytalk is Free to all users and will work on all internet enabled mobile devices be they, IPhone, iPads, Android, Blackberry etc. By creating groups you can extend this to an unlimited number of emergency response personnel such as as Police, ambulance crews, firefighters, disaster construction crews, doctors, nurses, etc using current mobile devices. Again all these individuals would need to do is have Mytalk downloaded on their device and logged in. Mytalk goes to great lengths to protect the privacy of individuals and all members could register anonymously and turn it off at any time. The Mytalk system can also be used to broadcast emergency response messaging to the general public. It is important to reiterate that Mytalk is and always will be free to the user and will be available on 90% of the internet enabled mobile devices used by the general public today. That is critical in order to get the uptake for a useful level of participation. Mytalk will provide a dedicated website for this service and an emergency response category on its main social network site and mobile applications. Mytalk integrates with facebook and twitter for larger exposure.
