The HERO Program

Mission Statement: The Hero Program

“Moving Canada and the United States forward…to unite and celebrate the leaders who inspire.” Heather Stibbard 2011 Project Manager HERO

The Holistic Emergency Response Operation (HERO) program is a higher learning seminar and training program, designed to validate the importance of implementing a holistic approach to emergency and disaster management.

In efforts to prepare communities and organizations before a disaster strikes; HERO is designed to integrate partners from all levels of government, first responders, communities, inspiring artists and academia to provide a rewarding higher learning environment.

Through partnership building, HERO’s mission is to improve the interoperability among first responder services, post-secondary institutions, government services and communities to increase Canadian and American resiliency, by reducing the potential impact or the probability of an emergency or disaster.

Subject matter experts are asked to contribute in working groups to produce new knowledge in enhancing public safety. The program includes a national tri-service training exercise to support first responders. Applying the FEMA DRU HERO hopes to utilize a holisitic approach to emergency preparedness training.

HERO will host a concert to benefit Military troops and there is an additional proposal for an event to support the Afghanistan Education Fund.

During these concerts The HERO Program strives to educate communities on emergency prepardeness coast to coast.

HERO is set to be proposed to five higher learning institutions in both Canada and the United States over the next three years. Failing to secure a partnership with the United States, HERO still hopes to engage subject matter experts from the United States while delivering the program in Canada.

The HERO program is designed to improve national security, protection of critical research, promote education and sustain integrated training.

Masters in Disasters would like to thank FEMA for offering this challenge.

The HERO Program Team has been working on this project for approximately two years and we are honoured to work on behalf of our Communities, Post Secondary Institutions, Governments, Inspiring Artists, First Responders, Beloved Troops and all the angels who support our Heroes coast to coast.

A sincere thank- you to everyone who has contributed to this Dare to Dream Project both in the Canada and the United States of America. You truly do represent true excellence.
