Standardize State & Local Websites
The Government has a good resource in Ready.gov, yet who knows about it? I recently discovered it as part of research I was doing at work. I then checked to see if my town had a link to it, and it didn’t. I checked several other neighboring towns and none of them had information on disaster preparedness. The only emergency related information these town websites have are snow emergency procedures and emergency notification systems. My thought is that besides pertinent local information and guidance, all town and state websites across the nation should point to Ready.gov as the key resource on how to prepare for disasters. The bottom line, no matter where we look, whether it’s a state, town or reservation, there should be a link to “Ready.gov” and all folks should be getting the same message on how to create a kit, make a plan and be informed.
