EM-PREP.COM

The fact of the matter is some people don't have the foresight, or the means to prepare for a disaster, while some people do. My idea would be for a website run by local communities. This website could host a forum for people to voluntarily post their skill sets or assets for use after a disaster. With this website, a community representative could filter submissions from community members. If Mr. Smith has an extra generator, he might want to let people borrow it for a couple of hours to run there freezer. Mr. Doe may have a stock of tarps that he would loan in the event of a nieghbor having roof damage, or broken windows. The website could provide emergency contact information, and preparedness packing/checklists. You could also help people find shelter for their animals. People could post assets they have to help with road clearing or temporary repairs. The possibilties are endless. I normally think about my family's preparedness, but not necessarily my community. This challenge got me to thinking more about that, and I even plan on presenting this to my community council.
