copy of fire safety week

how do kids know what to do in a fire? there is a whole week dedicated to fire safety in schools - why not make preparedness a requirement for a class - we've got math and english tests, why not put a 2 question portion on the end of year tests so schools HAVE to teach it and students must pass it to go to the next grade - use a down to up effect have the students bring the ifnromation home and then the parents learn from them - the only downside is that emergency managers are few and far between, most of the time they are the fire chief in town, or the SAFE officer is a firefighter - why is there no preparedness officer? someone who gets funded out of an initiative, who can go to the schools during the preparedness week and who can teach students how to be prepared
