Anticipating the winner!
I believe I have looked through all of the submissions by now and I can't wait to see which one is picked. They are all great. It is good to know that we have hundreds of innovative thinkers ready to contribute their ideas to the field of emergency management. Good job guys! = )

Ashley, would you care to list your top 10 contenders?

That was tough, but you asked - so I delivered. = )
(I hope it is not cheating to include my own!)

These are just a few of my favorites, but I love all the collaboration on this challenge. You all deserve to be commended for your ideas and I hope to see many of them being utilized in the future!

But you should read what they want FIRST
THE CHALLENGETo come up with ideas on how we can all help prepare our communities before disaster strikes and how the government can support community-based activities to help everyone be more prepared

I have definately read the challenge criteria. Your 303 plan is definately one of those that struck my attention as well. I am excited to congratulate the winner!

My concern it seems to be more of a product selling than one of personal perparedness. Many of the suggestions are are ready being done. I think to gett the attention you need to make it more personal and important no only to yourself but to the people that are important to you.

That is a good point. I hope that the idea that FEMA selects is a new intuitive and creative idea. Not something already being implemented or something that has already been done. The contest is to "come up" with something. Not "show us what you're already doing."
Thanks!

Continuous frame reinforcing for houses and all buildings is a never before used method of reinforcing, fyi; and why I entered it. I think that communities in disaster prone areas can really benefit from improved building and structure frames that can better handle the winds, water, and seismic forces and that can reduce debris fields and cleanup for responding to the communities before and during the disasters. (I noticed I wasn't on your top-10 list) Safer buildings and structures that can be built or retrofitted with continuous frame reinforcing helps out on many levels of preparation, response, human services, healthcare, security, and financial aspects of tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, quakes, etc.
